    • The Audience Award by popular vote went to 'La voz de Thais' by David Casals-Roma, while the short film 'La salud naufraga en la frontera sur' won the Youth Award.

09/10/2021.- Indestructibles by Xavier Aldekoa, Alfons Rodríguez, and José Bautista won the Best Feature Film Award at the Terra G· Film Festival 2022 during the closing gala held tonight. The film, which tells five different stories of young Africans, was chosen by the jury "for creating a sensitive, emotional, and non-victimizing collage of a group of young protagonists whose lives are marked by effort and resilience." Pico Reja. La verdad que la tierra esconde received a special mention from the jury in the same category. It tells the story of the mass grave at the municipal cemetery in Seville, which bears the same name as the film, where more than 2,000 victims of Francoist repression may be buried.

The rest of the awards were as follows: in the short film category, Mañana volveré by Hugo de la Riva, which in just eleven minutes explores how difficult a farewell can be, won the award. The Audience Award, chosen by popular vote, went to La voz de Thais by David Casals-Roma. This short film is a biographical reconstruction of Elena Jordi, considered the first female film director in Spain. The short film on immigration, La salud naufraga en frontera sur, by Alba Villén and Ignacio Marín, was unanimously chosen by the young jury, composed of young migrants under guardianship, who stated they identified with the story. Lastly, the Concordia Award went to the short film Alfonso ya no vive aquí by Dani Planas and Alejandro Fabbri, which tells the story of a homeless man evicted during the pandemic. In the category of Best Photojournalism Report, the work of young photographer Gala Espín for Nascentía, about a young woman's pregnancy, was awarded.

Although the festival continues with itinerant sessions in different venues and spaces throughout October and November, to date, the sessions of TERRA G· and Cinema Transhumant, which have brought committed, humanitarian cinema and photojournalism to villages and vulnerable groups, have gathered 3,200 in-person spectators in a total of 62 activities. Online, through the channel on Filmin.cat, 12,000 viewers have been reached. These figures are the highest recorded in the festival's history.

Regarding the recognitions granted during this edition, which began on September 23, journalist Josep Cabayol received the TERRA G· Award for Audiovisual and Communication Career posthumously, while photojournalist Emilio Morenatti was awarded the TERRA G· Award for Photographic Career during the second Committed Photography Day held at the old Montagut spa (Vall de Ribes).

The Terra G· Film Festival has awarded its first posthumous award to journalist Josep Cabayol Virallonga. A journalist "shaped by personal rebellion," he was the founder and president of the Association Solidaridad y Comunicación-SICOM, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting "responsible, critical, and independent but not neutral journalism." With a long career in media such as Televisió de Catalunya, TVE, RNE, or COM Ràdio, where he held positions such as head of news or editor-in-chief, he also collaborated with written media like El Periódico, Catalunya Plural, Crítico, eldiario.es, and Nación Digital. His interest in social issues led him to produce several documentaries.

Emilio Morenatti, photojournalist

Photojournalist and Pulitzer Prize winner, and chief photographer for Associated Press in Spain and Portugal, Emilio Morenatti (Zaragoza, 1969) is a Spanish photographer born in Jerez de la Frontera. Since 2004, he has worked exclusively for Associated Press. He has always been committed to reporting on disasters, wars, and conflict situations. This led to his kidnapping in 2006 in the city of Gaza. On August 12, 2009, he was attacked while traveling with U.S. military forces in Kandahar (Afghanistan). In 2007, he received an honorable mention at the World Press Photo Awards. In 2021, he received the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for photography for his images of the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic in Catalonia.
